PLEASE LISTEN TO REV HOVE GIVING REPORT OF DEMO AS HE WAS THERE FOR BOTH DAYS!!!I hope many of you know that I'm not a journalist.
So my "reporting" is really as a layman...just an activist who has the pliviledge to mix with the "ordinary" people and hear their real sentiments etc.
It is important to note that the demos done here will never reflect the number of Zimbabweans in the so-called "DIASPORA".
Many Zimbos are "under-ground" because they have no papers and would never go where there are crowds.
So Dr "Tafatakadii" Mahoso and his Ceaser Zvayi should not be too excited about the "size of the crowds."
The other thing is: many are busy "suffering" and cannot afford to leave whatever they are doing to spend the day at a demo.
There were a lot of South Africans, some from as far afield as Kranskop (KWAZULU-NATAL) WELL ORGANIZED BY COSATU.
The top Leadership of COSATU incl. the Secretary-General was there and gave the "key-note" address in front of the Zimbabwean Consulate in the centre of Johannesburg.
I have been recorded by SWRADIOAFRICA for their "Call-BACK" which will be aired on Wednesday, 4th April (tomorrow.) at about 1910hrs Zim time.
If you fail to hear it tomorrow, please go to
and there you can listen to my "post-mortem" of the demo.
The recording will be available in the "Archives" 14 days after tomorrow ie up to the 17th of April. You go to 4th April and click "CALL-BACK" and you will hear Mandisa say, "Hi Radical........."
Having said that, I was impressed by the clarity with which the Leadership of COSATU see the "tragedy of Zimbabwe."
The "tragedy of Zimbabwe", as they so well described it, is a single person who became THE PARTY, THE GOVERNMENT, the COUNRTY AND THE NATION.
Mr Vavi emphasized that it should never be allowed that a situation like that should ever arise in South Africa....that one man becomes the SOLE DECIDER OF EVERYONE ELSE's DESTINY SUCH THAT THOSE AFFECTED BY HIS DECISIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LIFT THEIR HANDS, LEST THEIR HANDS (OR WORSE) GET LITERALLY CHOPPED OFF!
Tomorrow we will continue with the Demo and I will then give the full picture after Thursday.
But please kindly listen to SWRADIOAFRICA 9th April at 1910hrs Zim time.
Or go to the Archives as mentioned above.
What frightened me most was the anger of the Zimbabweans who were there.
Many sang Zuma's "MUSHINI WAMI" ("GIVE ME MY MACHINE-GUN") and some there actually fought as ZIPRA and ZANLA in the 70s.
I'm not a journalist, but if I was an advisor to President Mbeki, I would ask him not to wait until next year!
The people's anger may devour his own country, South Africa.
If I were Robert Mugabe Mugabe's advisor, I would not ask him to increase the number of body-guards.
VERY STUPID IDEA!
I would enourage him to call for "AN-ALL PARTY CONFERENCE" where he would respect his fellow-political players and not have them beaten by "STATE THUGS" as is the case now!
I'm exhausted after all the singing etc.
BY THE WAY, I managed to give numerous journalists my blog-site and many said they knew it already.
As for the COSATU SEC General himself, I had the priviledge of slipping a piece of paper into his shirt pocket after his speech.
SO, ONE AND ALL........BYE UNTIL TOMORROW!
AFTER THE PRETORIA DEMO TOMORROW, COSATU will go to another "TROUBLE SPOT", SWAZILAND WHERE THERE IS ANOTHER YOUNG "DEMAGOGUE" IN POWER.
I HAVE FAITH IN AFRICA, AFTER ALL!
The time is 16.050 here in JHB in this Internet Cafe.
Bye...
Rev Mufaro Stig Hove.
